Mines Strategy 2026: Rules, Real Odds and How to Play Smarter
You open tiles on a grid, and you win if you cash out before you hit a mine. Think of it as Minesweeper turned into a casino game. Mines is a staple of 1win's instant games, and its big selling point is that you choose how much risk you take. This page covers the rules, the odds and a sensible way to play.
The rules in 30 seconds
- Pick your stake and the number of minesYou decide how many mines are hidden among the 25 tiles (for example 3, 5 or 10).
- Open tiles one at a timeEach safe tile raises your payout multiplier.
- Cash out whenever you likeYou're paid your stake times the current multiplier.
- Hit a mine and the round endsYou lose your stake.
So the whole game comes down to how greedy you get. Aviator is a race against the clock. Mines lets you take your time over every click, which suits players who like to think.
Mine count vs multiplier
This is the core of Mines. The more mines you set, the faster the multiplier climbs per tile, and the lower your chance of surviving each click.
| Mines | Chance the first tile is safe | Multiplier growth | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | About 88–96% | Slow | Beginners, making a bankroll last |
| 5 | 80% | Standard | A balanced approach |
| 10 | 60% | Steep | High-risk players |
| 24 (only 1 safe tile) | 4% | One huge jump | Pure luck. Not recommended |
Three ways to play
1. Low risk, few tiles (for beginners)
Set 3 mines, open 3 to 5 tiles, then cash out. Each win is small, but you win often and your bankroll lasts longer. While you're learning the game, this is all you need.
2. Set a target multiplier first (my pick)
The most common way to lose at Mines is "just one more tile". Decide before the round that you'll leave at 2x, and cash out the moment you get there, no matter how you feel. That one habit makes results far steadier. It's the same idea as auto cash-out in Aviator.
3. Bankroll rules (for everyone)
| Rule | Guideline |
|---|---|
| Maximum stake per round | 1–2% of your bankroll |
| Stop-loss | Stop once you're down 20% |
| Doubling up to win back losses | Don't |
These rules manage the swings. They don't turn a 97% RTP game into a profitable one, and over the long run the house keeps its edge. The same bankroll thinking is covered in the Aviator guide, and my breakdown of betting systems shows why doubling up fails.
There is no "safe tile"
