Responsible gambling
Gambling is entertainment, not a way to make money. Every casino game has a negative expected value over time. This is the most important page on the site.
Three rules before you start
- Decide how much you can afford to lose, firstSet it aside as an entertainment budget from money left over that month. Never use money for bills, your savings, or borrowed money.
- Set a time limitKeep sessions to one or two hours. Late-night sessions spent trying to win it back are the most dangerous.
- Don't chase lossesWhen you hit your loss limit, stop straight away. Doubling your stake after each loss (the Martingale system) is the fastest route to going broke.
Self-check
If two or more of these apply to you, stop playing and contact a help service:
- You've deposited more than your budget to win back losses
- You've hidden your gambling from family or friends, or lied about it
- You've borrowed money or used a credit card cash advance to gamble
- You feel restless or irritable when you're not gambling
- Gambling is hurting your work, studies or home life
